![]() The reason multicolor sets tend to dominate Standard is that they come with good mana fixing (the shocklands, in this case) in order to make multicolor cards (which are more powerful since they're harder to cast) more castable. For comparison, if I'm not mistaken there were only 11 multicolored cards in Magic 2019. Guilds of Ravnica (like the 6 Ravnica expansions that came before it) was about two-colored pairs (the guilds, duh), and as such had an elevated number of multicolored cards. Magic 2019 was a core set so those are usually theme-neutral and simplistic, though it had a light Nicol Bolas theme. The best Magic: The Gathering decks in the metagame for the Standard format, for both Best of One (Bo1) and Best of Three (Bo3). Dominaria was defined around history (the plane is the oldest one in the game of Magic, with dozens of expansions set on it). Ixalan and Rivals of Ixalan were mostly defined with flavor surrounding "age of exploration" stuff, hence why there weren't that many mechanical themes in the set. Yep! Every expansion has its own themes, whether that's flavor, mechanics, or both. Tier 2: Tier 2: All archetypes with a presence greater than 0.20 of the metagame that are not Tier-1. (Or the top 15 archetypes if that number is lower than ten). I mainly wanted to see how complete my collection of playables are, though there are some "playables" that are not on here, it's a pretty reasonable snapshot of the important rares/mythics in the format right now. Some of the top 12 decks were repeats (like there are 2 Mono-Red Aggros), so there may be less than 12 distinct archetypes here. I took the top 12 decks from MTGGoldfish standard meta and took all the Mythics and Rares from the maindecks and sideboards (of the default list only). I made these for my own collection tracking.
